Seven Years of Inspiring Movement: Celebrating Lakin Cozman

Lakin Cozman has been helping our community move better, feel stronger, and live healthier lives for seven years! As a Clinic Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and Functional Movement Screen (FMS) professional, Lakin has become an integral part of our team. Her passion for movement, lifelong learning, and helping others has positively impacted hundreds of clients throughout Southeast Saskatchewan.

Coming Home

When asked what brought her to Southeast Physiotherapy, Lakin's answer was simple: "There was a job offer, and it was home for me." Over the past seven years, that decision has allowed her to build lasting relationships with clients while growing into one of the region's leading exercise professionals.

Always Learning

Lakin believes that learning never stops. Reflecting on her career, she says she has grown in every way - from expanding her knowledge and expertise to completing numerous professional development courses. One accomplishment she is especially proud of is earning her CSCS designation, a credential recognized internationally for excellence in strength and conditioning.

Her commitment to continuing education doesn't stop there. Looking ahead, she's excited to pursue her NSCA Certified Special Population Specialist (CSPS) certification, allowing her to provide even greater support for individuals with complex medical conditions and unique exercise needs.

Making a Difference Every Day

Ask Lakin what she enjoys most about her work, and her answer reflects exactly why patients enjoy working with her.

"Helping people. Getting to know people and making an impact on their quality of life."

Some of her most rewarding experiences come from working with FMS clients. Helping someone overcome chronic pain so they can return to the sports, fitness activities, or everyday movement they love is what motivates her every day. Success isn't measured by the amount of weight someone lifts or how quickly they recover. It's about something more meaningful.

"Movement without pain. Pain decreases quality of life, so this literally makes their lives better and more enjoyable."

Exercise Is Never One-Size-Fits-All

One of Lakin's greatest strengths is designing individualised exercise programs. She describes the process as an art- carefully understanding each person's injury, goals, occupation, and lifestyle before creating a program that's unique to them.

Over the years, FMS has changed the way she approaches rehabilitation by encouraging her to treat the entire person rather than focusing on a single painful body part. This whole-body approach helps uncover movement patterns that may be contributing to pain and allows for more effective, lasting results.

Rehabilitation isn't about being pushed beyond the limits. Many people worry they'll be expected to complete an aggressive exercise program, but Lakin emphasizes that every program is individualized. She encourages clients to trust their bodies, move at a pace that feels safe, and recognise they're often capable of much more than they realise.

A Team You Can Trust

One of Lakin's favourite parts of working at Southeast Physiotherapy is the people she works alongside. She describes the clinic culture as personable and laid-back, creating an environment where both staff and patients feel comfortable and supported.

Beyond the Clinic

Outside of work, Lakin enjoys staying active through CrossFit, yoga, Pilates, and walking. When she's not exercising, you'll often find her relaxing with a good book or spending time with family and friends.

Looking Ahead

As she reflects on the past seven years, Lakin is excited to see Southeast Physiotherapy continue to grow alongside its expanding team of physiotherapists. Her goal remains the same as it was when she started - to help people move better, feel stronger, and enjoy life without pain. When asked how she hopes patients remember working with her, she says, "It wasn't that bad, and they might be kind of sad to stop coming."

Thank you, Lakin

Seven years of dedication, compassion, education, and encouragement have made a lasting impact on our clinic and the community we serve.
